He is survived by his daughter Daphne (age 25) and son Donald (age 22) and his beloved wife, Jenny.

John graduated from the University of Berkeley with a degree in economics followed by a Law degree. He also played rugby for his alma mater.
After Law school he joined the firm of Davison and Buckingham in New York City and specialized in shipping law, serving a range of clients in the shipping and transportation sectors.
Throughout his life, he was a scholar and reader on subjects related to law and public policy, helping to make important changes in the state legislative assembly especially in the areas of unemployment and public transportation.
John was also an avid sportsman. He was a member of the New York Rugby Club and the Scarsdale Golf Club, where he maintained a handicap of five.
He cared deeply for his family and friends and the junior rugby team in the NYRC club, who sorely miss his weekend rugby coaching sessions and his wonderful sense of humour.
